In the silent, echoing hallways of the Humane Society for Hamilton County in Indiana, where the light filtered through the bars softly touches the floor, a heartbreaking sound echoes. It is the cry of Major, a four-year-old terrier/pit bull mix, whose soul is slowly losing hope after more than 260 days in a kennel. His story is not just a sad reminder of the forgotten animals that survive in shelters every day, but a living testament to the resilience and unbroken spirit of a dog who continues to hope for a loving home.

Neglect

Major’s saga began one summer day when he was brought into the shelter as a stray, dependent on the kindness of strangers and the shadow of what was once home.

Upon his arrival, staff discovered he was microchipped, indicating that somewhere, someone had once loved, or at least known, him.

The employees were hopeful and immediately contacted his former owners , expecting them to want to see a lost member of their family again.
