Carter’s health has faced multiple challenges in recent years. In 2015, he successfully battled brain cancer, and in 2019, he underwent brain surgery to alleviate pressure. Despite these health issues, Carter’s resilient spirit remains strong.
Carter’s grandson, Jason Carter, provided an update on his grandfather’s condition during the 28th Rosalynn Carter Georgia Mental Health Forum. Jason shared that his grandfather has been in hospice for almost a year and a half and that he believes his grandfather is nearing the end of his journey.
“As I’ve said before, there’s a part of this faith journey that is so important to him,” Jason emphasized. “And there’s a part of that faith journey that you only can live at the very end, and I think he has been there in that space.”
